Special precautions
Indicated from 4 years of age: 2 doses 3 months apart. Do NOT give on the same day as other live vaccines (they must be 28 days apart).

Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Absolute contraindication because this is a live attenuated vaccine. -
Contraindication
Severe congenital or acquired immunodeficiency (HIV, ongoing chemotherapy)
Absolute contraindication to live attenuated vaccines.
Reactions after vaccination and what to do
Pain at the injection site, headache, muscle aches, mild fever Common
Onset: Within 1–3 days after vaccination · Lasts: 1–2 days
Home care: Rest, drink plenty of fluids, take paracetamol for fever and pain. Avoid aspirin and ibuprofen.
Go to a health facility immediately if: Persistent high fever, bleeding gums or nosebleeds, severe abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, continuous vomiting.
Giving with other vaccines
- MMR II: should not be given on the same day; if given on different days, allow at least 28 days between them. The Qdenga dengue vaccine is a SPECIAL exception: it must NOT be given on the same day as any other live vaccine (such as MMR or chickenpox); the two must be at least 28 days apart.
