Seasonal influenza
A booster is needed every year because influenza strains keep changing.
Transmission
Through the respiratory tract by airborne droplets and contact with surfaces.
Symptoms
Sudden high fever, chills, severe headache, aching muscles all over, exhaustion, dry cough, blocked nose.
Complications
Primary viral pneumonia or secondary bacterial pneumonia, myocarditis, worsening of heart failure or COPD, miscarriage in pregnant women.
People at high risk
Children from 6 months, pregnant women, older adults ≥ 60 years, people with chronic heart or lung disease.
