Cholera
Oral mORCVAX vaccine: 2 doses 14 days apart.
Transmission
Through the digestive tract: drinking water, raw or undercooked seafood, or vegetables contaminated with faeces containing cholera vibrios.
Symptoms
Severe, continuous watery diarrhoea that looks like rice water, no fever, vomiting, calf cramps.
Complications
Rapid acute loss of water and electrolytes, circulatory collapse and shock within a few hours, acute kidney failure, death.
People at high risk
People living in areas with polluted water or affected by floods and disasters, people travelling to cholera outbreak areas.
